2019 NCBA National Championship

As always, Cal Boxing fights ferociously! 4 Cal Boxers go Nationals: Ruby Guzalowski, a senior, fighting in the 112lbs division, Jason Lan, a junior, fighting in the 119lbs division, Marcos Lopez, a junior, fighting in the 125lbs division and Ernie Casillas, a freshman, fighting in the 147lbs division. Ernie brings home a Bronze medal in the 147lbs division, becoming an All American!  Ruby, Jason and Marcos place 4th in tough competitive weight classes fighting boxers from service academies. Ruby Guzalowski fights a top seed boxer from the Military Academy. Marcos fights a 3x National Champion from the Military Academy, now a 4x National Champion. Jason fights a seasoned boxer from the Naval Academy.  We are so proud of how our boxers represented us at Nationals! During the 3 day tournament, Cal Boxers got to meet professional boxer, Terence Crawford!

2019 NCBA Western Regionals

5 Cal Boxers fight at the Western Regionals! Ruby Guzalowski, a senior, fighting in the 112lbs division, Jason Lan, a junior, fighting in the 119lbs division, Simrit Dhillon, a senior, fighting in the 119lbs, Marcos Lopez, a junior, fighting in the 125lbs division, and Ernie Casillas, a freshman, fighting in the 147lbs division. Simrit Dhillon receives a bye both quarter and semi-final nights, fighting only on the 3rd day of the tournament - finals night.  She becomes Western Regional Champion, beating an aggressive boxer from UW! Jason brings home second, beating tough opponents. Ernie earns 3rd and Jason and Ruby earn 4th. All boxers qualify for Nationals!  However, Simrit is unable to attend nationals, missing out on a guaranteed All American title.

2018 NCBA National Championship

Jacqueline Garcia wins a National title in the 132lbs., division, Julia Rivera wins a Silver medal in the 112lbs., division and Vivian Chuang places 3rd, bringing home a Bronze medal. With our women’s effort, we attain a Women’s 3rd Place Team Trophy. This is outstanding given that we only had 3 female boxers whereas first and second place women team trophies went to academy teams, Army and Navy, with many more women on their team. Additionally, Jacque Garcia is awarded the Outstanding Boxer Award, awarded by USA Boxing officials to the most outstanding boxers during the championship fights. Larry Rentería and Eric Pan place 4th and 5th respectively. Our team showcased Cal Boxing beautifully at the 2018 National Championships.

2018 NCBA Western Regionals

Jacqueline Garcia defends her Regional Champion title, becoming 2x Regional Champion, consecutively, in the 132lbs., weight division. Vivian Chuang becomes 2018 Regional Champion in the 119lbs., division, and Julia Rivera, a returning champion, becomes 2018 Regional Champion. The women’s team return home, all as Regional Champions, qualifying for the National Championships. Eric Pan, fighting a tough fight against a seasoned boxer qualifies to compete in the National Championships. Larry Rentería, a Freshman competing for the first time at the Regional level, brings home a win, qualifying for the National Championships. Pietro Puducay, fights ferociously, resulting in a tough and close fight.

2017 NCBA National Championship

Julia Rivera wins a National Championship title in the 112lbs., division, Nikolay Velkov wins a Silver Medal in the 185lbs., and Jacqueline Garcia wins a Bronze medal in the 132lbs., division, bringing home 3 All-American Titles. Vivian Chuang and Kevin Reber both box skillfully against seasoned boxers.

2017 NCBA Western Regionals

Jacqueline Garcia and Julia Rivera become Regional Champions in the 132lbs., 112lbs., respectively, qualifying for Nationals. Nikolay Velkov places 2nd at Regionals, Kevin Reber places 4th, both qualifying for Nationals. Christopher Berven and Pietro Puducay fight at the Western Regionals for the first time.

2016 NCBA Western Regional Championship

Vivian Chuang and Jarred Mendoza qualify for the 2016 NCBA National Championship tournament. Jarred Mendoza finishes second at Regionals against the prior year's Nationals silver medalist from Air Force Academy.

2015 NCBA Regional Championship

3 California Golden Bears competing in the Regionals tournament in Reno, NV. Claire Glowniak and Gerald Santos return from the prior year and Ryan Wen competes in Regionals for his first time after a 3 fight win-streak. Glowniak wins regional championship title.

​​After competing at Regionals in Reno, NV, Gerald Santos and Claire Glowniak qualified for Nationals at West Point. In a controversial decision, Glowniak finished second place at nationals and earned All-American honors.
